It's been a whirlwind 48 hours for Urban Meyer. The ultra-successful Florida football coach resigned Saturday, due to health reasons linked to a heart condition. On Sunday, he had a change of heart and instead opted for a leave of absence. At 45, Meyer has shifted his focus from the gridiron to his family. He says he wants to see his three children grow up. I commend him for getting his priorities in order. I just question his ability for long-term change. After he resumes coaching, which he says he will do by the 2010 season, will he able to be as passionate and demanding while also paying closer attention to his health? I see that as a tough balancing act. Meyer is unquestionably as good as you get as a college coach. His record is above reproach. I question whether he can take his foot off the coaching accelerator, placing himself in harm's way again.
