January 18, 2010 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
Dwayne “Bubba” Coleman died all too soon. The Martins Ferrian had much more goodwill to spread. He personified the saying that "it is better give than receive." And give he did. The youths of Martins Ferry are better young men and women because of Bubba Coleman. The Martins Ferry High product was a man's man while never losing that little boy in himself. With that said, he channeled much of his waking day of his adult life undertaking projects for the betterment of children. He was a dedicated wrestling coach and always remained close to the Purple Riders' football program. He did whatever needed to be done, be it in prep wrestling, prep football or the Martins Ferry Recreation Center. Bubba donated all his time selflessly, looking for no personal gain or attention. He worked right up to the end of his premature departure. I was one of the fortunate ones to call Bubba Coleman my friend. We crossed paths many a time, be it professional, socially or per chance. I never heard Bubba utter a cross word. It is said the good ones die young. Bubba was definitely one of the good ones.
