I had the morning off today, but when I awoke I realized that it had snowed through the night. I don't mind the snow when I don't have anywhere to go, but travelling in the snow is horrible as most would agree. The thing that bothers me the most is the snow affects the prep sports card. It not only causes games or events for that night to be cancelled, but it's got a ripple effect in terms of make-up days and matching calendars. While most school teachers would be quick to point how nice snow days are to break up a week, I would be willing to bet athletic directors are hoping they can make it through an entire season without winter distractions.
The Major League Baseball Winter Meetings (to me) are one of the most capitivating events of the year. The huslte and bustle at the Opryland Hotel has to be unbelievable. Most people will shake their head at this, but I think behind a Super Bowl and Olympics, the Winter Meetings are definitely something I would love to go to. I have found myself capitvated by all of the possible moves and moves that did get done even though my Cubs have basically remained silent other than trading for a middle-of-the-road reliever.
