| | GOING LESS POSTALMarch 29, 2010 - Robert "Bubba" KapralThere is a push being made to cut mail-delivery service to five days a week. It is seen as a cost-saving measure for the U.S. Postal Service which is again drowning in red ink. I have no problem paring a day from home delivery, but would not make that day Saturday. Two straight days without mail may prove troublesome, especially to the elderly. I suggest possibly Tuesdays as that day. If five-day delivery comes to fruition, however, the Postal Service needs to show some new-found financial responsibility. Postage rates have risen all too quickly in recent years as another method to try and curb the deficit. The rate hikes have done little to help the cause. I believe mail patrons could accept five-day delivery if they felt the Postal Service is becoming more efficient. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
