Something to Believe In

April 29, 2010 - Kim Collette

"So forgive me if I laugh, It is just to hide the tears.  Sometimes I wonder if I've wasted all those years.  For all the things I felt, but forgot to say, I hope he gives me one more day."  Bret Michaels, Poison, "One More Day."

And...I am sure Bret is thinking about those words today.  The bandana sporting rocker, best known for fronting the rock band Poison, remains in ICU.  Bret Michaels suffered a brain hemmorhage last week.  Most recently the hemmorhage has also caused a sodium deficiency that is causing seizures.  Reports have said that doctors found a subarachnoid hemmorhage, which is an aneurysm in one of the blood vessels that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled space at the base of the brain.  The 47 year old and recently beloved reality show star remains critical but stable.  The latest news I read this morning said Bret seemed to be making progress in the healing process.  According to a report, "The Something to Believe In," singer is responding well to tests and treatments.  The report even said he could return to the stage as early as May 26.

Unlike most people, I wouldn't have considered myself a Bret Michaels fan before his run on this season's Celebrity Apprentice.  And, by the looks of it, he made more fans than foes while on the show.  His co-stars appeared on Larry King Live Tuesday to offer their good wishes and prayers.  It appears that I, along with the rest of the viewing nation agree.  This past Sunday's episode was the first since Michaels fell ill, and by no coincidence, had the largest viewing audience since the season premiere.

My favorite episode of the season also happened to be this past Sundays.  The task presented to the "apprentices" was to create a workout for a physical fitness center.  And...Bret using his creative genius came up with the "Rock Star Boot Camp."  His idea was to make the workout a "rock concert" experience.  The best part was Bret's clever idea to give each exercise a rock inspired name.  The workout consisited of "the backstage pass," "the air guitar," "the tour bus thr**st" and many more unsuitable to mention.  One of the greatest things about this episode, it showed Bret having a blast.  To me...it showed the real Bret Michaels....and truly made me a fan.

The Celebrity Apprentice patriarch Donald Trump has weighed in on Michaels' situation.  In a statement, Trump said he was "deeply saddened" by the news of Bret Michaels situation.  "He's a great competitor and champion, and I hope he will be fine," Trump said.

And so do I.  Get better Bret.

Until next time friends!
