In honor of Mother's Day, I decided that it would be fun to take a look at some of the most memorable moms on television.
Peggy Bundy: Not your prototypical mom. In fact, she'd probably rather watch tv or go shopping for herself than to cook, clean or work. But somehow Peggy steals your heart and gives you constant humor. I wouldn't recommend her parenting style, but you can still tell she loves her kids and husband.
Elyse Keaton: The definition of a "cool" mom. The former hippie made the role of professional and mom look easy. This mom showed us how to juggle work, raise kids and how to love unconditionally even during the toughest times.
Clair Huxtable: Successful attorney, mother of 5 and wife to Cliff; Clair managed to give us humor and good moral values each week.
June Cleaver: June Cleaver has to be the perfect American housewife of the 50's. She cooked. She cleaned. She took care of her husband. She raised 2 sons. Another perfect mom!
Marie Barone: Sarcastic and judgemental...YES! But, Marie is a tell-it-like it is kind of mom. And, she is not done raising her son Ray (even though he is well over 30). I guess once a mom, always a mom.
Carol Brady: Carol was always happy and ready for anything. Raising 6 kids was a breeze for Mrs. Brady. Although, apparently cooking was not....she did have Alice! To millions she set the standard for tv moms. Lucky for us "The Brady Bunch" will live forever in re-runs!
Marion Cunningham: Marion ran a tight ship and tidy house. Her kitchen was always clean and her living room could pass the white glove test. If anyone stopped by unannounced, she always was dressed to the 9's. Everyone's favorite mom, Marion takes us back to simpler times where a good meal and sound advice can solve any problem. Marion is known for her witty comments, raising wholesome kids and "mothering" the Fonz. She is the mom every kid wants to have.
How do these moms stack up to your own mom? Well....if you are like me, I wouldn't trade my mom for any of the tv moms! So...to all the mother's out there....Have a Very Happy Mother's Day!
