The new-look OVAC Track and Field championship wrapped up last weekend with the overall champions being crowned at Meadowbrook High School.
I can't say or write enough how well the event went. Other than the blustery weather for Saturday's finals, it seemed to me that basically everything else went off without a hitch. That's not surprising knowing the people who were in charge of the meet as well as the folks running the respective sites of the action.
I know there is some resistance from the coaches, but to me, you'd be hard pressed to find better competition to get prepared for the respective state meets. The OVAC meet is only going to get better and become more and more popular. People who are the nay sayers are obviously welcome to their opinion, but before you talk about how it stinks and the old format is better, give it a few years to grow in scope.
