My letter to Lebron

July 9, 2010 - Kim Collette

Dear Lebron,

At 9:27 p.m. on July 8,2010, you broke Ohio's heart.  It took you all of 11 seconds of your hour long "decision special" to leave us humiliated and heartbroken.  Thanks Lebron. Thanks  a lot for letting us "witness" your departure on national television.

Not only are you turning your back on your hometown team and fans, you had the audacity to name it "The Decision?!?"  Seriously?  That's it....it is now blazed into the minds of Cleveland sports fans minds with "The Fumble," "The Drive," "The Move," "The Shot," and the rest of the aweful moments in Cleveland sports history.

Do you feel any shame in doing that?  I'm guessing no.  Maybe you got too much too soon.  Maybe it's because you forgot where you came from or what you mean to the people in Northeast Ohio.  Maybe, just maybe, you forgot  asked and wanted the Cavs to draft you so you could bring a championship to this city.....No one knows but you.

I understand you were entitled to become a free agent.  And, yes I understand it's your right to leave the Cavs in the dust.  But did you have to embaress us like you did?  More than anything I am disappointed.  I am disappointed in the fact that you humiliated your hometown on national tv.  What you did is inexcusable to Cleveland fans......dare I say that you Lebron.....are now the most hated person in Cleveland...even more than Art Model?

You even have a tattoo that says Loyalty.  This was in no means loyal.  Derek Jeter, Cal Ripken....those athletes are loyal.  In my eyes you will never compare.  What happened to the guy who accepted his MVP awards and talked so sincerely about being home?  That guy was loyal.

I wish the Heat were offering you more money than Cleveland was, because then I could say that you were just greedy.  And that would be better than being a self-centered "brand" promoter.  That just doesn't sit well with me.

I hope you take the "curse" of Cleveland with you to Miami and that the long suffereing fans of the Browns, Cavs and Indians get a championship before you. And even if we don't.....at least no one can say that we aren't loyal.  We stand by our teams win, lose or draw.

Very Disappointed Fan,

Kim
