| | Football Coming SoonJuly 29, 2010 - Seth StaskeyIt's becoming a cliche, but where has the summer gone? Major League Baseball teams have less than 60 games remaining in their seasons and NFL training camps are open around the nation. It's hard to believe that the warm and fun times of summer are slowly withering away. For us in the newspaper business, the summer time is really growing short. Actually, I am writing this blog just before I head to our first football team pictures. Unbelievable that prep football gets under way in less than a month. Last Sunday, the unofficial start of prep football was held with the Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic. West Virginia won thanks to a masterful job of drafting a team by Brooke High head coach Tom Bruney. They won the line of scrimmage and therefore won the game. Now, football teams are enjoying their last few days off before doubles begin on Monday around the Buckeye State. Our football tab cover picture was taken last Sunday and our tab will publish on Aug. 24 with more than 160 pages of local high school and college football previews. Make sure you check one out. Until that point, the staff will be logging miles to take pictures and write stories. Should be a hectic, but exciting couple of weeks. Until next time...
