September 10, 2010 - Kim Collette

Birthdays are good for you.  Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest~Larry Lorenzoni

In a few short days I will be celebrating yet another birthday.  And...I'm not afraid to tell you how old I will be turning this year.  My grand new age on September 14 will be.....33!  Now....I do love birthdays.  When else is the whole day about you?  You get special treatment, cake and ice cream, right?  But...then I got to thinking....the actual date that you were born on really doesn't just "belong" to you.  Believe it or not other events actually have and do occur on the date that you were born.  Shock of shocks!

Septmeber 14....other than me being born....what else significant could possibly have happened????

Let's see....

The Major League Baseball season was cancelled because of a strike in 1994.

In 1814, the poem Defence of Fort McHenry is written by Frances Scott Key.  The poem is later used as the lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner.

The way too soon passing of Patrick Swayze in 2009.

Amy Winehouse, the singer,  shares the 14th as a does Dan Cortese.

Kimberly Williams (The Father of the Bride's bride) celebrates September 14 as her birthday too.

On September 14 1901 President Theodore Roosevelt becomes the 26th president of The United States.

September 14 1930 was the day that Germans elected Adolf Hitler.

There were many more....and....Even though "other" things have happened on September 14, it's still my day!  And....I plan to enjoy every minute of it!

Until next time friends
