| | NFL Snooze FestsSeptember 14, 2010 - Seth StaskeyThe opening week of the National Football League season would have been great if you were an insomniac. I understand it's the first game of the season and there are kinks and the action will get better, but the games I watched bits and pieces of were downright dull. I will say the Steelers' game was fairly interesting despite the lack of scoring. There were entirely too many field goals and penalties for my liking. I think it's easy to figure out why the early-season is somewhat of a downer. Because the first unit hardly plays in the pre-season. I understand the risk of injury to the star players, but these guys need to be sharp once the season starts. I just didn't see that much after the opening drive of the Saints-Vikings encounter last Thursday. Since there's only 16 more weeks of the NFL season left, I'm fairly confident things will improve. Best question of the opening weekend I heard was from a buddy who said, "How big of a NFL fan do you have to be in the Eastern Time Zone to stay awake for the entire Chargers-Chiefs' Game?" A very good question and I will say I am not that big of a fan. The action will get better, that's for sure. Until then, I will continue watching baseball.
