For the Love of Dogs
September 24, 2010 - Kim Collette
"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive."~Gilda Radner
Dogs are very special to me too (especially my black lab Ryder). Dogs are just great. They quickly form bonds with you and most spread their love around. If you don't own a dog, maybe one of my reasons listed below will help convince you that you should. (If you are like me....you already have a million reasons.)
Exercise---Dogs force you to get out and exercise because you know they need the exercise and you feel guilty if you don't take them out.
Attention---Dogs love attention. By paying attention to their needs, your own problems and worries are forgotten.
Excuses---Dogs make great excuses to get off of the phone in hurry...."Sorry I have to go, Ryder needs to go outside."
Less Stress---Studies have shown that dogs help reduce stress and lower your blood pressure.
Excellent Heaters---Dogs (even the tiny ones) put off a lot of heat. Snuggle up with your pooch on a cold winter's night and I am positive you will stay warm and cozy.
Companions---You are never alone with a dog in the house.
Dishwashers---Dogs are natural dishwashers. I don't know any dog who won't lick a plate if it's put in front of them. And, it's less work for you.
Listening---Dogs are someone to talk to who actually listens....and they don't argue with you! (Maybe I am crazy, but I think my dog actually knows what I am saying.)
Empathy---Dogs have the uncanny ability to be able to sense your mood and know when you need some loving.
The Number 1 Reason---Dogs love us unconditionally. No matter what your dog will always come running to greet you.
So...why own a dog? It's simple. They wiggle their way into your heart and make your life complete.
Until next time friends!
