I've been a huge Grey's Anatomy fan since the began. I was a little hesitant when ABC announced that Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes was creating a spinoff. That spinoff is Private Practice.
Each week (as probably planned by the network big-wigs), I kept tuned into the "spinoff" once Grey's Anatomy was over. And, each week to my surprise, the show got better and better. I found that to truly enjoy Private Practice, I had to make sure I wasn't comparing it to Grey's Anatomy and all of it's McDreaminess.
Yes, the episodes flow the same as Grey's; some sort of medical emergency. But, with Practice, it's more than surgery. Practice has therapy, alternative medicine, pediatrics and family medicine. With that said, the episodes just seem more "grown-up." I would compare it to Grey's episodes being more inline with a "high school" type mentality and Practice more along the line of "adult hood."
Last night's Private Practice, completely solidifies my arguement for people to watch this show. The show centered around one of the doctor's being attacked and raped. It was once of the best written and acted episodes that Practice has aired. I think I watched the whole episode with my jaw dropped. The episode was poignant and emotional. And, it showed what the victim goes through.....not the investigation or investigators.
If you haven't tried this show out.....I suggest you do. In fact, the Private Practice gang is very close to pulling me away from McDreamy and Grey's as my favorite show on television.
Until next time friends!
On a side note.....Good luck to all of the area high school football teams playing in the OHSAA state playoffs!
