I VIEW the solar farm project planned for Eastern Ohio as a bright idea, one that could be a financial windfall to the area. Any venture that may produce 600 new jobs is worth pursuing. Such is the case with the Turning Point Solar Farm targeted for Noble County, which won out against Muskingum and Morgan counties, respectively. Once completed, the solar farm will yield energy for AEP. A 20-year contract has already been finalized. I would like to think more projects could come to fruition. Why couldn't Belmont County house a similar solar farm? Clean energy is in demand. Solar farms are a perfect method to provide clean energy while also making hundreds of new job opportunities available. With the steel industry on life support, what is wrong with turning to the sun to help energize the local economy? Aggressive pursuit of such endeavors by local officials could turn the Ohio Valley into Sun Valley.
