Super Bowl Week

February 4, 2011 - Kim Collette
I did it! I survived!

I survived living in "Steeler Nation." For me this is a great accomplishment. You see, I am a die-hard Browns fan. I have been my whole life. So these 2 weeks leading up to the Super Bowl have been torturous for me. And I mean torturous!

I have heard all the Steeler songs.....the 2011 version of "Here We Go," "Steelers Defense" (which is set to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance) and believe it or not "Steelers Ladies" (which is set to Beyonce's All the Single Ladies.) I endured watching all of the sports shows leading up to the Super Bowl talking about the great "Steel Defense", the storied history of the Steelers and how Big Ben has redeemed himself. I have also listened to fans about The Terrible Towel and all it's Myron "Copey" history. I have walked into grocery stores and only been able to see Steeler Cookies and Cakes. It's almost unbearable to a point!

And I have survived it ll! It's already tough being a Browns fan living in the Ohio Valley. But, it's even worse when your arch-rival is in the Super Bowl. Not only do we have to commiserate about how lowly the Browns have been lately, but for 2 straight weeks we have to hear about "The Steeler Nation."

In all honesty I'm not a hater. But I am a Browns Girl! So you won't see me rooting for the Steelers on Sunday "because they are a local team." I will proudly root for Aaron Rodgers and The Pack to dismantle Pittsburgh Nation.

If you don't believe it.....check out our Saturday print edition of The Times Leader. I'm the one in the center of the Times Leader Super Bowl pic....and yes....that's a Green Bay Jersey!
