Where does time go?

March 2, 2011 - Seth Staskey
It seems like just yesterday we in The Times Leader Sports Department were covering football games and the winter sports season was still a long ways off. As I am typing this, there is just one girls' basketball team (Shadyside) still playing and only a handful of boys teams. There was 11 area wrestlers still playing sports this season, but their campaigns come an end regardless of what happens this weekend at the OHSAA State Wrestling Championship.

It's really hard to believe that the winter sports seasons are coming to a close. While, it's a little sad, it's also encouraging that nicer weather is just around the corner. We've been talking in the newsroom, that we're ready to move into spring sports and before you know it, summer will be here and then we'll be right back into fall sports. It's truly amazing how fast time goes.

Anyway, I am heading to Columbus for the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament Thursday morning. Action gets under way at 3 p.m. at OSU's Schottenstein Center. Should be a good weekend. I think several area individuals have a chance to earn the distinction of all-Ohio. We'll be there every step of the way and you can follow the action on or in a printed editions.

We'll also be all over the Shadyside girls' basketball tournament run, which continues Friday. Boys sectionals resume Saturday and then move into district week the following Tuesday.

While times flies, these are good times to be a member of the media. Have a great weekend, everyone.
