It is refreshing to see the Ohio Valley rally around a worthwhile cause. Such was the case again Saturday morning. Hundreds of people of all ages and sizes converged at Warwood. Why? The seventh annual Walk for Autism. Participants walk either as an individual or as a team member. Teams take great pride in how much money they can collect. I did not see one of the 400-plus walkers without a smile on their face. It was upbeat from the get-go. Some $40,000 was raised in this one walk. That is amazing. Toss in the local economy and the outrageous price of gasoline and that $40,000 is off the charts. But that is the Ohio Valley. I have always said that we rally around others in need. We tend to forget about our problems when it comes to a good cause. Saturday was another case in point. The Ohio Valley may be experiencing tough times, but we are rich in compassion and character.
