ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Samuel Beckett’s stunning tragicomedy “Waiting for Godot” will close the 2007-08 theater season at Ohio University’s Eastern Campus. “Waiting for Godot” will be performed May 8-10 and 15-17 in the Shannon Hall Theater. Thursday performances begin at 7 p.m. and all seats are priced at $4. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. with general admission tickets $6 and senior and student discount tickets $4.
This season of theater celebrates the Eastern Campus’s 50th Anniversary and has included productions of favorite plays that have previously appeared on the Eastern Campus stage. “Waiting for Godot” was last performed in spring of 1993. It qualifies as one of Beckett’s most famous works. Originally written in French in 1948, Beckett personally translated the play into English. The world premiere was held on Jan. 5, 1953, in the Left Bank Theater of Babylon in Paris.
