A BLAZE early today destroyed one house and damaged two others in Bellaire with possessions of a family of four, which includes items for a baby less than two weeks old, also going up in flames. Despite losing most of their possessions and the house in which they planned to move, the Bill Bedway family appears fortunate because their decision to spend the night in their new home on Harrison Street in Bellaire changed, and they returned to Wheeling and were not at home when the fire began. In addition to Bedway, the family members are his wife and their two children, including the baby born about a week-and-a-half ago. Firefighters from the Neffs, Martins Ferry and Cumberland Trail departments fought the fires at the homes on Harrison and Monroe streets. Clean-up work was under way around 8 a.m. Neffs Fire Department official Mike Wallace this morning said a representative from the state fire marshal’s office was scheduled to be on the scene today.
