Former Ohio AG aide says he was fired with no investigation
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) _ A former aide to embattled Attorney General Marc Dann says he was terminated last year without an investigation by the office, unlike two top aides who were fired last week after sexual harassment claims against one of them prompted an internal probe.
Rick Alli, Dann's former chief of law enforcement operations, was fired in April 2007 after Dann learned Alli was still being paid by the Youngstown Police Department in addition to his state salary.
Alli said he never spoke to Dann personally about his termination.
Dann spokesman Ted Hart said Thursday that Alli served at the pleasure of the attorney general, meaning he could be hired or fired at will.
Hart said an investigation was conducted in the recent probe because two employees had accused an aide of misconduct.
