It won't be a season soon forgotten in Barnesville; nor should it be. The Shamrocks' 2006 grid campaign is one for the archives. It truly is a season to remember, embrace and cherish. And why not? All the Shamrocks did was run the regular-season table, attaining the ultimate 10-0 perfection. The Red & Green proceeded to pocket a home playoff win in Week 11 against stubborn Kirtland in the muck and the mud. The second round of the playoffs failed to prove as kind as the previous 11 weeks. The Shamrocks, clinging to a late and precarious lead against Warren JFK, fumbled away possession in the final minute, deep in Barnesville territory. JFK capitalized, scoring the winning TD in the waning seconds. It was a most agonizing and painful end to a most glorious season. Warren JFK proceeded to advance all the way to the OHSAA Division V championship game, ultimately losing to St. Henry.
