BCF, You still have not read the report and if you did you would realize that your statement is. Is guided and incorrect. I can quote the seven basic points of the report and clearly prove your statement is not correct. Please read the report and reevaluate your comment. Please......

President Obama’s plan contains 90 percent of Simpson-Bowles spending cuts and 60 percent of the plan’s revenue.

Republicans support Simpson-Bowles, which calls for more revenue increases than President Obama, but there is no support for a similar plan when it comes from the White House.

The obstructionist Republcians are against anything and everything Obama supports even if the vast majority of it contains GOP ideas. No wonder nothing gets done.

BCF, Did you read Simpson Bowles yet? 50 percent of the members were Democrats. How is that biased or leaning in one direction. Please take time to read it and we can debate. these are financial experts equally divided so as to not make it political. Let's lay aside politics, forget Fox, CBS NBC, or any other media. Just read the report and give us your honest opinion, please.

Thoughtful, all you do is post tired, long debunked Right wing talking points. You dismiss anything you don't agree with. Sure, you are entitled to your opinions, but not your own facts.

Not many things funnier than advice and comments from people who get their "news" from Fox and Limbaugh.

BCF. Please read Simpson Bowles in full. It is not a political document. Be fair and open minded when you read it. Again, both parties are to blame for the debt. This is not a finger pointing issue. Now we MUST address the issue both D's and R's for the good of this nation and ALL citizens. Read the report................... No blame game required but consider the ramifications if NOT Addressed.. Listen to Joe Manchin, A Democrat. Listen to Alan Simpson, a life long Democrat.

The GOP didn't care at all about debts and deficits while Bush was running them up with tax cuts and wars. They suddenly cared in January 2009 when Obama took office. Wonder why?

@BCF; your analogy is correct if the pitbull is ALL of Congress and the meat truck is our tax dollars.

Libs used to scream incessantly about national debt when it suited them. Now it's not an issue? Hope you are enjoying your Kool-Aid. Is it grape by any chance? :}

Please read the Simpson Bowles Report in full. This group made up equally of R 's and D's clearly and logically points out the need to increase income and cut spending so we can gain a foothold on our deficit. Remember, equal number of Democrats were on this committee. Mr. Obama established this group and gave it much credence. This is NOT a Republicans , Democrat issue....... this is real issue for this country. don't turn it immediately into a political discussion. Read the report in full, please.

Joe Manchin, A Democrat though he may disagree on some issues is very outspoken in saying, we must address this deficit issue. Let us be very serious as to where we are headed. We can differ on solutions and certain actions but across party lines everyone knows it must be addressed.

Moody's and Fitch are both watching how it is dealt with and will take rating action soon if they do not see some agreement to deal with the issue..

Let us step above politics And be very focus

9trillion dollar debt when obama took office 1st term...16 trillion dollar debt when obama took office second term...added debt 77% or over 7trillion dollars...if the same path continues, sure, we will all be equally broke...Obama and congress must cut soending...if not good luck to all...you will need it

Sometimes what a president doesn't say is more important than what he does. In my view, the second most significant thing about President Obama's inaugural address (besides his support for equal marriage rights) was that he didn't mention the federal budget deficit.

Reducing the deficit or paying down the national debt have framed the nation's economic goals for years, but they are not and should not be. Providing equal opportunity is a far more meaningful -- and more accurate -- aspiration, as Obama helped us understand.
