Yeah, lottery proceeds became a slush fund. Property taxes are the same way. They get sent off to Columbus and disappear down Shrek's Waffle Hole.

I remember when the lottery was started a large % of the profits were supposed to go towards the public school systems. what joke these politicians are. Everything always come down to the same thing. Every one says there is no money and wants us to pay the bill. I think it is wrong to tax just the property owners. Every one who has children in the school should have to pay something.

The problem is larger than individual districts. School funding was ruled unconstitutional by the OSC years ago yet nothing has changed. We should be harrassing elected representatives to do the right thing and come up with an alternate plan. Instead, we continue to blame local officials who are saddled with the burden of having no other option but the ballot box. The power they have to manage their budget shortfalls is severely restricted and what they can change amounts to small drops in the bucket. Funding is the larger issue and is likely the very reason we're seeing this proposal put forward. Kasich must be willing to take the flack that our state reps have not been able to stomach for the past ten years or so since school funding was declared unconstitutional.

I recently paid my real estate taxes. It hurt to write that check. NO, I am NOT willing to vote for the levy. My taxes are high enough already. Figure it out on your own, just like I have to do to pay my taxes. VOTE NO!

with all of the tax revenues from the gas and oil drilling in Belmont County no school with in this county should be asking for levies. all these superintendents need to show up at a commisioners meeting and ask where all the that tax money is going and get an answer as to why a lot of it can't be used for schools. I have also had to make cuts and do with out over the past few years. Prices on everything has gone up. Work has slowed some. the school system was obviously mismanaged. I also do not believe that the property owners, especially the ones with no children or grand children in the school should have to foot the bill for their mismanagement.

Couldn't agree with you more warhog. Why is it always the property owners that have to dig a little deeper into their wallets? Why not EVERYBODY that uses the system? I have a welfare neighbor on one side of me and renters on the other side. They say they always vote for the levy. Sure, why not? They don't have to pay for it. I'm retired living on half the income I used to have when working. I'm getting old now with medical bills mounting and the house needs some fixing up. Can't buy groceries like I used to but they expect me to come up with even more money to save their behinds. Let them take care of their bills with cuts just like I have to do now with my budget.

What don't these people understand about those living here don't have the money to pay the bills for their bad decisions. It's a proven fact that over 50% of those having children in the system vote no on these levys. Why should those on Social Security or pensions vote for these levys? Then there are those on welfare. Quite a percentage of them and they will not vote for the levy. I believe Mr. Scott should give up half of his pay and every tacher give up $5000. of their pay for 5 years and they can pay their own debts. Can I have a levy to pay my bills? NO.
