To LifelongOV and uncommonsense: I hope your poor attitudes don't affect your daily life! It's pathetic and cynical and I hope voters in this town see the value of that park to not only the children (oh yes, the FUTURE of this town!!!) but the value of our homes!

Funny, in the last year, I have visited with my family....the local movie theater at least 15 times, the bowling alley 6 times (which is ALWAYS busy!) and the drive-in once.

And as to your comment about disability and welfare cheats to clean it up and maintain the park, I am a MBA college graduate with an excellent job who frequents that park with my family for steak fry fundraisers for local sport teams, baseball games, graduation parties, and swim meets.

I was not even born and raised in this town, yet I love St. Clairsville, the people who live here and especially that Memorial Park. I just hope the majority of the voters come out on May 7th to prove your theories wrong.

WHY aren't the sitting Park Commissioners quoted in this apistle ??

Moynihan is from MF, and has a paid position, as Park Manager in St C.

No wonder he wants the Park to stay open)So he can continue to double dip PERS

The "current" Board of Commissioners needs to get off their backsides, and do a door to door campaign, and solicit local business owners.

Rather than, telling the public/taxpayers.... You don't pass the levy, we will CLOSE....

Pathetic, and "borderline" extortion. 8(

Why should we be FORCED to pay for something most of us NEVER use!!

Those who USE it need to FUND it!!

Get all the disabilty and welfare cheats in the county to clean it up, and maintain it as a condition of their free ride!!

The bottom line is if it doesn't turn a profit, shut it down!!

In the very hand out they are taking door to door, it states "Memorial park has NEVER had an operating levy since 1950"

So why do they need one NOW!!!

Back in the day, when the steel mills and chemical plants were booming, EVERYBODY worked and EVERYBODY had good paying jobs and BIG families

And since they didn't have internet, smart phones, and video games, they had to build pools and parks in EVERY community to entertain their kids

Those days are LONG gone!

Because of lack of interest, bowling allies are gone, drive in theatres are gone, and roller skating rinks and movie theaters are ALL gone

And at one time EVERY community had all of them!

Community pools are next!
