Great letter and very truthful.....and showing the truth to obama and what is left of his supporters is like flashing a crucifix at dracula!....obamas downfall and the renewal of our nation will be due to two factors: 1) his gigantic ego and sense of believing that he can do what he wishes, when he wishes, and to whom he wishes....2) THE TRUTH.....

Another letter to appeal to those who have conveniently forgotten everything prior to January 2009. It's a dangerous world to those living inside the GOP bubble. The echo chamber reinforces their fears. Critical thinking is a lost art among Republicans. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

It’s as if they didn’t learn a thing from the 2012 elections. Republicans are on the same suicide mission as before - - trying to block immigration reform (if they can’t scuttle it in the Senate, they’re ready to in the House), roll back the clock on abortion rights (they’re pushing federal and state legislation to ban abortions in the first 22 weeks), and stop gay marriage wherever possible. Yet America is becoming more ethnically diverse, women are gaining economic and political power, and young people are more socially libertarian than ever before.

Why can’t Republicans learn? Because the Republican base is entrenched in certain states that are older, whiter, and more rural than the rest of America than rest of the country; and senators and representatives from these states naturally reflect the dominant views of their constituents — which are increasingly out of step with where most of the nation is heading. Despite all the post-election rhetoric about the necessity for change emanating from GOP leaders who aspire to the national stage, the national stage isn’t really what the GOP is most interested in or attuned to. It’s directed inward rather than outward, to its state constituents rather than to the nation.

This structure also blocks any would-be “New Republicans” such as Chris Christie from gaining the kind of power inside the party that a New Democrat like Bill Clinton received in 1992. The greater likelihood is a steady eclipse of the Republican Party at the national level, even as it becomes more entrenched in particular states. The GOP’s national role will be primarily negative — seeking to block, delay, and filibuster measures that will eventually become the law of the land in any event, while simultaneously preaching “states’ rights” and praying for conservative majorities on the Supreme Court. In other words, more of the same.

Homicides in Chicago are down dramatically this year; a trend that undermines the attack that Chicago stands as the ultimate symbol of gun enforcement failure.

In early May, the Chicago Police Department released figures indicating the city marked a 43 percent decline in the number of murders over the first four months of this year, as compared to the same period last year. For the first quarter of this year, Chicago registered 93 murders, its lowest January-to-April tally since 1963.

Then this month came news that Chicago experienced a 31 percent decrease in shootings for the month of May, which meant that through May of this year the city's murder count had declined 34 percent from last year. Chicago homicides still outnumber those in larger cities, such as New York and Los Angeles; it suffers from weaker gun laws in both its home state and surrounding states than those two cities, allowing criminals easier access to guns purchased elsewhere.

Yes ruzgirl they would see that CRichardMichael is just another "Birther" Tea Pot crackpot. To him the only people that matter are the rich, those that drill for oil, religious fanatics, and the unborn.

George H.W Bush was commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve June 9, 1943. That made him the youngest NAVY pilot to date. He was stationed on the USS San Jacinto, an aircraft carrier operating in the Pacific. Turley, as usual, just makes up whatever he needs to prove his ignorance. H. W, Bush never dropped a bomb on Germany, he was half a world away. Ruzgirl--don't believe everything the clown show tells you.

Oluh is a joke that he plays on himself every morning when he rises.....and when he goes to sleep at night, he is STILL the only person that doesnt "get it"!!...LOL...and BCF needs to know that there is a bit more to America than fast tracking ILLEGAL immigrants, killing unborn children and attending Twinkie weddings!!!....if those are his priorities, what does that say about HIM??

I must confess that Oluh is partially correct about the service record of George Bush Sr., but that I was hoping to be "corrected" by his loser pal, BCF....aka "Bush Crime Family". In that respect, I have learned not to set traps for the slow minded. Bush Sr. was an ensign, though promoted to Lt. status in 1943....in Sept of 1944, his plane was shot down by the Japanese. His crewmen were killed and his plane was on fire....despite this, he STILL completed his bombing mission. He signed up for service on his 18th birthday in 1943 and fought till the wars end.....some criminal, huh???....we could use millions more "criminals" like him, and millions LESS of those like Oluh and BCF.....NO PRIDE=NO SHAME!
