"We just need more freedom in who and when we play," Powell said. " Interpretation: We can't beat the teams in the conference so we are dropping out. Typical OVAC mindset, afraid to schedule teams who you think will beat you. Why not strengthen your programs instead dropping out. Novel idea? Athletes come in cycles and your cycle will come back.

There is a reason why the MAC schools in NW Ohio (Coldwater, St. Henry etc.) do well in the OHSAA tournaments and OVAC schools don't. They have all elevated their programs and compete with each other. The OVAC schools run and hide.

Jims and Joes over exes and ohs anytime anywhere. Have you actually watched the championship games on TV? How exactly do you strengthen a program? Don't say increase the enrollment. Schools have to play the hand they're dealt. Numbers, Numbers, Numbers.
