The state, Governor and legislature, are ignoring the Constitutional mandate and the Supreme Court to fund schools adequately, equitably and fairly. One might conclude that this is criminal since the Supreme Court in 2002 directed the legislature to "fix" the school funding system. This subject would take many lines to explain. To the letter to the editor. don't punish our local school and its students for the criminal act of the state. Also, I have first hand knowledge that the school has done many things to manage their budget in a responsible manner. they have reached their limit and need help from the citizens to make up for the inadequate action of the state. Also, there is a meeting for the public on September 10. there will be information provided. Come to this meeting and listen; if you do not get the information you need, ask your questions.

Mandatory taxing in a public school should only apply to people who have dependents in the school system. Public schools are supposed to funded by the state not the tax payer. Why should some one who chooses to send their children to a private school or home schools be taxed for public schools? It's already been decided unconstitutional so why does county and state continue to tax people unfairly?

So taxing an average of 600 families per district will be adequate to operate schools? Get real. Does state funding appear out of your arse? Where does it come from if not for taxes? Ask your reps why the taxing continues and there is still no fix in sight. Come to the table with knowledge on the subject then there can be substantive debate.
