Dear Village Residents: Bridgeport Village Councils during my boyhood solved their problems with the help of a large tax base supported by a business base of Scott Lumber, Clevite, a Box Factory......

Smith ISN'T hiring her. You may think it's the same, but to me it isn't. I know State Ethics. I am trained in it every year at work. If Smith doesn't have a say in the hiring process of his wife, then she can be hired. But on the other hand, how do we know what part the Mayor has in his family being hired? Grandson was police chief. Hmmm........... No influence there. What other relatives do we have?

I agree that the mayor has more than one. But isn't it hypocritical for Smith to say anything because he is doing the same thing? I'm sure if Dave's kids were old enough, he'd hire them too. Where else could they work in the valley?

There has to be a start somewhere. No, it's not on the same scale. Misty is one person. One EMT. The Callariks are spread out everywhere one way or another.

I don't disagree with you regarding the mayor's family, but isn't Smith doing the same thing on a lesser scale? As for the council vote issue, this shows that Smith does not know it all either. The proper handling for a conflict is to "abstain". I would suspect the tone of your approach to the mayor could have something to do with it, but I don't know how you have approached him so it would not be fair for me to judge. I agree that there needs to be new blood in the village. Unfortunately, neither the mayor nor the current clowncil are what is needed. I for one am embarrassed to be a resident. We should recall all of them and start over.

Well, how great is the mayor and his staff? You bring up Misty. How many relatives of the mayor are getting paid or have been paid through employment. It take the council as a whole to do positive things. Actually there isn't really an effect council in this whole valley. There needs new blood in this village. People who aren't narrowed minded to the needs of the WHOLE village and not just certain areas. I did not like how a lawsuit was brought up TWO years after the fact. Those two reported themselves. They did not vote YES at the meetings like the lies have been spread. Voting present is NOT. Yes vote. Common sense tells you that. I have talked to other mayors in the village. They were nice and open to your concerns. They even answered letters when I mailed them. But this one doesn't . I tried to stop and talk to him. His secretary denied me. And it was his family there. And they were rude. So, yes, I support anyone running against him.n

You are obviously smarter than me and in no way can I match your intellect. Why don't you explain it to me? The problem with most of the people in office or who ran for office in Bridgeport is that they all want to be right and if you are of different opinions, then you must be a liar, crook, or some other derogatory term. Can you honestly name one thing positive that the Smith camp has done for this village. Approving monies for the fire dept would be a logical answer, but I would contend that they had their own agenda as well - paying Misty??? I'm not saying the mayor is right, I'm just tired of hearing how wonderful Smith and Lenz are when they haven't done anything either.

I'm not related to anyone here! Hahaha yes there are serious issues. In the end, they will be worked out. Evenly all through the village, not just certain areas. What part of the village do you live?

And which member of the Smith family are you? Maybe when the Mayor is gone, Smith's wife can be the queen and his relative can be the police force. This town has serious issues and both sides are the problem. The mayor has his issues but the other side does too.

First, you do not know me. Second, you probably don't even live here in Bridgeport. And as you have seen from the election, the people have spoken. Oh, BTW. How are you related to the Mayor? The only people I hear talk good of him is relatives. Walk out in Bridgeport. Talk to people.

Bossman, the issue isn't about padding this or that. The people that are running are not all family. They have different views from the Smith crew, but so what ... they seem to be just as sincere in their interest for the villiage. The problem is, Smith and crew are doing the same thing from the other side. They say it isn't about the power, but they want all of the power or none of it at all. What about sitting down and debating issues? What about give and take? Why not grow up and stop trying to stall and/or shun any item that isn't an idea that comes from your side of the table? They aren't the US Senate or House of Rep. ... they are local people that shouldn't have a chip on their shoulder because they were elected into a position ... but I digress ...

If I could "move on" I would!! I would move out of this so called village. I question the Mayor's ability to do the job at his age. When you "pad" the people around you with relatives to get what you want, then that needs to stop!! It's either his way or the high way. Well, it don't happen that way. Why should some areas of this village get all the treatments but other do not because he does not live there!! EVERYONE should get the same services and treatments. And why is all this lawsuit business brought up 2 YEARS after the fact!?!?! And by HIS family!?!?!?! And those accused reported themselves. But at the time, the Mayor signed off on it. And the acknowledgement of PRESENT during a vote is NOT A YES vote. Anyone with common sense knows that. Election day will show what this village wants and it isn't his regime.

First of all, that was a great run-down of things that need to be done. There needs to be progress in our village and the petty arguments that have been going on need to stop. Too many people are fueling contention instead of trying to solve anything. A perfect example is Bossman011. It's time for you to 'move on' and let those who want to get something accomplished do it. Nothing has gotten done in the past four years and it is time for someone to try to make progress in the council.
