I feel your pain. Remember how long ago the funding system was ruled unconstitutional? How can it be that you and I have to follow the law but state legislature doesn't? It sickens me to think of all the re-elected state reps who kept their hands off this subject for their own sake. Whom are they serving really? Maybe we should just remove a few fingers as a final warning before the pike to show mercy.

promo61 - understand what you are saying. It just seems like a financial crisis is imminent bring out the levies, never cut costs through reduction in force, stop all extra curricular activities, etc. The taxpayers are viewed as a bottomless well. My main objection began many years ago when our daughter was in the 7th grade at Powhatan Elementary. My wife and I voted for a levy for new textbooks which passed. Before the textbooks were purchased, the teachers union went on strike and the levy money for textbooks was used to cover the raises and increased benefits for the teachers union. An unholy alliance of teachers union - school administration where on hand washes the other. Teachers get a raise, the administration gets a raise. The taxpayers get, well "skewered". No new textbooks. Remember Promo61, it's all for "The Children". I say it is time to sharpen some pikes! (figuratively)

Quiz, first off, I dig the Game of Thrones reference. Secondly, I've read your posts on other threads and have agreed with them in part or entirely. Here, though, it seems you are allowing emotion to blind your thoughts. BUTTHEAD aside :), I would be shocked if you didn't know how school funding works. Don't get me wrong, I encountered a BUTTHEAD in my district once. Despite a superintendents skill set (or lack thereof)he/she really has no choice but to go to levies. Just confirming you know that. Really enjoyed your post BTW.

Typical proposal from a Superintendent who would rather retire than face a lawsuit for sexual harrassment and bullying--now we are stuck with him bullying us with closing down schools if we don't agree to his strong arm tactics. I have an idea! Give Powhatan back to Belmont County! Say, "Here you go, here's a brand new school for you since THEY ARE IN YOUR COUNTY ANYWAY! And stop trying to go after the oil and gas workers to get your money...they RENT and will MOVE before they pay a 1.75% income tax so what are you left with--those of us who work HARD and keep losing money because we continually have to pay for others making stupid decisions. And by the way--how do you explain to the state you are going to bus a kindergardner all the way from Antioch to Beallsville every day? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! This article is full of lies and more lies--typcial of SO***!!

Get the money off of the lottery commission and the millions in profit from casinos like it was supposed to be in the first place. I'm tired of giving and giving and giving.

Another unfair burden placed on the backs of those of us who are working. Educational income tax! Who would not be paying, retirees and those on government assistance. The burden will be placed on those who get their butts out of bed 5 or 6 days a week and work for a living! If tax fails, the Superintendent Butthead plans to close a brand new school. BLACKMAIL. That BUTTHEAD needs to be removed from office for suggesting such an idiotic idea. And if the income tax passes what would the BUTTHEAD do? Why spend the money hiring MORE TEACHERS and the circle of life (tax and spend) continues. Is it still illegal to puts heads on pikes ala Game of Thrones?
