LEWIS, James McClelland “Pancake,”

LEWIS, James McClelland “Pancake,” 71, of Dilles Bottom, Shadyside, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at his home.

He was born January 27, 1936 in Harrietsville, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Goldie Wilkinson Lewis.

He was retired from Ohio Valley Coal Company’s No. 6 Mine, Alledonia, Ohio. He was a Protestant by faith; a member of UMWA District No. 6; and an Army Veteran.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Art Lewis; and four sisters, Annie Jones, Mabel Boston, Bertha Burgy and infant sister, Helen Lewis.

Surviving are his wife, Lena Briggs Lewis; two sons, James D. (Lisa) Lewis of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Kenneth (Anna “Olive Oil”) Lewis of Manassas, Va.; three daughters, Brenda Lewis and Jim Helmbright of Shadyside, Brittney and Brooke Lewis, both of the home; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bauknecht- Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Alice Phillips officiating.

Interment in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.
