GRIFFITHS, William C., Jr.

GRIFFITHS, William C., Jr. 86, of Ferryview Rd., Martins Ferry, OH left this world to be with his lovely wife on Sunday, Apr. 27, 2008. He was born July 31, 1921 in Harpersville, OH, a son of the late William C., Sr. and Gladys (Williams) Griffiths.

He was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. William was a dye setter by trade but a farmer at heart. At one time he owned an eighty acres farm outside of Mt. Pleasant, OH which he loved. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and a member of the Lansing Sportsman Club, Lansing, OH and a past president of the Pleasant Valley Sportsman Club. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, W. W. II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Virginia M. (Helsley) Griffiths; two brothers, Jack and Frank Griffiths.

Surviving are two daugh ters, Carolyn (Gene) Ross of Woodsfield, OH and Darlene (Fred) Martin of Wheeling, WV; two son, William C. (Kathryn) Griffiths, III of Sunset Heights, OH and Nathan Lee “Bud” (Karla) Griffiths of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry; a brother, Donald (Eileen) Griffiths of Martins Ferry; a sister, Vernice McAninch of Colerain, OH; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Friends will be received Tues., 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH, where services will be held Wed., Apr. 30, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Barry Hall officiating. Entombment follows in Holly Memorial Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove, OH with full military graveside honors by the Belmont Co. Council of the V.F.W.
