CADIZ — Officers from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant that resulted in the discovery of several electronic devices believed to have taken from a local school.

According to a press release issued late Friday afternoon, officers entered the home of Kim Elerick at 90845 Jewett-Germano Road, Jewett, and located more than $650 in cellular telephones, digital cameras and MP3 players.

The search resulted after Sgt. Eric Wilson, School Resource Office, received numerous complaints from students at the Harrison Hills Junior High School in Scio of items taken from their lockers in the past five years.

At thee conclusion of his investigation, Wilson was assisted by Lt. Detective W.R. Jones and Deputy R.A. Brooks in executing the search warrant. The items were discovered in the bedrooms of two juveniles who reside at the Jewett-Germano residence. They both attend classes at Harrison Junior High School.

Wilson said one of the juveniles admitted to stealing the items from the lockers of fellow students while they were in class.

“We are glad we could recover the stolen items,” said Wilson. “But I caution parents not to send expensive electronic items with their students to school.”

The investigation remains open, as more items have yet to be recovered. Charges against the juveniles are pending.
