Ferry police make another sex arrest
By LINDA L. HULL, Times Leader Staff WriterMARTINS FERRY Police have again nabbed an alleged sexual predator, the second in less than a week -- and in the same neighborhood.
Police arrested William F. Myers, 73, 1815 Hill St., Tuesday and charged him with gross sexual imposition against a 4-year-old girl.
Myers was taken to the Belmont County Jail after police said a relative allegedly caught him touching the little girl at his apartment.
The child was taken to a local hospital for alleged minor medical care. Police arrested Myers at his Hill Street apartment.
Myers' apartment is just two doors from a man who was allegedly caught downloading child pornographic pictures at the Martins Ferry Public Library earlier this week.
Quentin Phillips was arrested over the weekend after he reportedly confessed to the Martins Ferry Police to raping an 8-year-old child.
Police said they found extensive evidence of child pornography at Phillips' home on Hill Street.
Myers is being held in the Belmont County Jail on a $10,000 bond on a charge of gross sexual imposition. He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday morning in Northern Division Court.

whisperinghope: Good point, & as a father of a 4 year old myself, I an say he is never out of our sight, even for a second, & we would certainly not let someone we lived by watch him, as most attacks take place from a trusted friend, family member, or acquatince. If this gives people reading this pause, good, & while it does not mean you cannot trust anyone, do you want to play Russian Roulette with your child ?

Once again where were the parents? Certainly if this person suffered from Alzheimer’s or dementia someone would know, and if so, why was a child left alone with him?

JaymeJones: Charming that you have taken a dicussion & turned it into a personal attack because you refuse to face the facts that what I said happens to be true. But to answer your question, just because one is ignorant about something, does not mean they have to remain so, & being a parent now, I watch who lives by my child & who may be watching him. Paranoid perhaps, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Go look up the topic & broaden your horizions, as you will be shocked at what you learn.

You do not know that these two are connected, and just because they happen to live in the same apartment complex, which by the way, is a large complex does not mean they "gravitated" to each other. How do you know so much about it Sphinx? Are you one too? See how much generalizations hurt? Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

JaymeJones: However you may personaly feel about Linda Hull as either a reporter or indivdual, does not take away the fact that is well known to all pfrofessionals concerned that such people tend to associate with others who possess a simliar inclination for sexual gratification from minors. It is also known that they have a rather elaborate network set up in which they often share photograpghs ( child **** ), & even exchange the various victoms. So, knowing all of this, why would you or anyone else seek to make lame excuses for such people, as age, race, gender has nothing to do with child predators, as they come from all walks of life, rich, poor, etc.

Once again, Linda Hull imposes her own opinion in a story. It should have been edited. This fellow was arrested, but who is saying he is a "sexual predator" besides Linda? Nobody. Also, I think this case is entirely different circumstances. Sometimes elderly people act inappropriately if they are having mental issues or Alzheimer's, and that may be the case with this man. I think it's a far different case from that of a man who goes to the public library every day to look at p o r n o g r a p h y and download it and who has photos and things in his home. And they may not be exact next-door neighbors; the St. Myer apartments in Ferry all have the 1815 Hill St. address. Linda has been the Martins Ferry reporter for long enough that she should have known that but I think it was easier for her to try to force a connection where there might not be one.

It does not shock me that two child sex offenders was living so close to eah other, in that anyone who chooses to study them will learn they generally run in tight circles, often share images & yes, even victoms between themselves. If the DA handeling these 2 cases was smart, he would see who these 2 people are in close contact with, as it could possibly lead to otehr arrests.

I PERSONALLY HOLD HUD RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE INCLUDING DRUG ADDICTS IN THEIR HOUSING PROJECTS.
