THE DEATH our months ago of a 10-year-old Morristown area girl continues to be investigated by the Belmont County Sheriff's Office.
Information regarding the death has been forwarded to the Belmont County Prosecutor's Office, according to Chief Deputy Joseph Hummel.
The girl died in late August at Wheeling Hospital after emergency squads were called to the child's Pine Lake Tailer Court residence.
The person who found the child said the child was unresponsive and was instructed by a 911 dispatcher on how to attempt resuscitation as an ambulance was en route.
When Lafferty emergency medical personnel arrived the child was unresponsive.
According to Chief Hummel, the girl's autopsy was done in Newark, Ohio, but the cause of death is not being released. He said that information will not be made public until Prosecutor Chris Berhalter determines whether charges will be filed in the case.
Hummel believes there are other children in the home where the girl was found. He said he also believes the girl's siblings are in the care of the same parent or parents at the Pine Lake Trailer Court home.
The case is still under investigation.
