ASTURI, Philip J.

ASTURI, Philip J."PJ," 39, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Saturday, July 25 2009, in the Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio.

He was born June 8, 1970, in Bellaire, a son of Philip J, and Joanne Sciullo Asturi.

PJ was a former team leader at the former Motor Panels Group in Shadyside, Ohio. He was a former firefighter and paramedic for both the Powhatan Point and Martins Ferry, Ohio Fire and Emergency Departments. He was also a registered nurse, graduating from the Ohio Valley Hospital (Trinity East) School of Nursing in Steubenville, Ohio.

PJ was preceded in death by his maternal grandfath er, Peter Sciullo; paternal grandfather, Joseph Asturi and paternal step grandfather, Conrad DeGaetano.

Surviving in addition to his parents, Philip J. and Joanne Sciullo Asturi of Powhatan Point, are two brothers, Joseph Asturi of Powhatan Point, and Michael (Elizabeth) Asturi of Dallas, Texas; maternal grandmother, Louise Sciullo of Forest Hills, Pennsylvania; paternal grandmother, Concetta DeGaetano of Powhatan Point, and sister-in-law, Constance Asturi of Powhatan Point; also four nephews, Joey Asturi, Nicholas Asturi, Dominic Asturi and Parker Asturi, and one niece, Hailey Asturi.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main St., Powhatan Point, OH from 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Powhatan Point, with Father Samuel R. Saprano, the Celebrant.

Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point.

Vigil services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
