GERDAU, David W., 68, of Shadyside, Ohio died Friday November 20, 2009 in Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va.

Dave was born April 8, 1941 in Shadyside, Ohio, a son of the late Bernard J. and Victorine A Wautlet Gerdau.

He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Steubenville, Ohio, a member of St. John Catholic Church, Bridgeport American Legion Post #227and Bridgeport Eagles Aerie #995

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Sherman Gerdau and a sister, Patricia Irwin.

Surviving is a daughter, Norma Jean (Paul) Leek of Shadyside, Ohio; his former wife, Pamela Williams Gerdau; a granddaughter, Olivia Leek, three brothers, Jerry (Barbara) Gerdau of Shadyside, Ohio, Bernard (Mary Jo) Gerdau of Bellaire, Ohio, Walter Gerdau of Shadyside, Ohio; four sisters; Maxine Barritt of Niles, Ohio, Joan Petrel of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Beverly Haroldson of Bradenton, Fla., and Cindy (Albert) Edwards of Livonia, Michigan.

Family and friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will begin at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Catholic Church Bellaire, Ohio with Fr. Samuel Saprano officiating.

Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Bellaire, Ohio.

Vigil service 2:15 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
