Friends and family of the late Justin "Fuzz" Triplett have organized a blood drive in his honor and are asking the public to take part in the life-giving event.
The event will be held June 11 at the Jewett United Methodist Church on the corner of West Main and Rumley streets. Refreshments will also be served.

THE U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to firefighters Grants (AFG) Program has awarded $118.750 to the Tappan Lake Volunteer fire Department.
According to Fire Chief Larry Bertolino the money will be used to replace the department's brush truck. The department will match a percentage of the grant through various fund raising programs.
The AFG grants target fire departments and EMS organization that are unaffiliated with hospital in order to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public and first-responder personnel. All such fund can be used for vehicle acquisition, operational and safety equipment updates.
THE VILLAGE of Scio has scheduled a workday for June 14 beginning at 6 p.m.
Volunteers are asked to report to the village office at that time to help in completing painting projects around the community. Paint and equipment will be provided through the village.
FREE SPORTS Physicals for Harrison Central High School and Junior High School students who will be participating in sports, cheering or band will be offered on June 17 and 18.
Sponsored by the Harrison Community Hospital, physicals will be conducted on Thursday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Dr. Dan Jones' office at 243 S. Main St., Cadiz, and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the office of Dr. Lobby at 951 E. Market St., Cadiz.
To schedule an appointment, parents or guardians of the students should call the hospital emergency department at 942-6210 during the week of June 7.
A PUBLIC auction will be held June 12 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Harrison County Highway garage to sell unwanted vehicles and office equipment.
The sale will feature a variety of items including the following items from the sheriff's office: 1986 Ford E-350 ambulance with a 460 engine with low mileage, a 1998 Ford E-350 Van with a 5.4-liter V-8 engine, 2001 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6-liter V-8 police interceptor (parts car) and a 1998 Ford 35C ambulance (diesel power stroke); and the following items from the county's highway department: 2001 International 2654 tandem dump truck, 1996 Ford LTS 8000 tandem dump truck, 1996 Ford L. 8000 single-axle dump truck, 1981 Force CL9000 truck tractor, 1988 Kobelco LK5000A loader, 1996 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6 liter V-8 police interceptor, 1999 Jeep Cherokee SE, 1990 Chevy Cheyenne 2500 pickup and a 1983 Ford Econoline XI ambulance.
In addition, old office equipment will be included in the sale. Other county offices may have items available in the sale.
Harrison County Commissioner Bill Host and Rhett Peter will donate their time to serve as auctioneers.
All proceeds from the sale of the items will go to the county's general fund.
THE HARRISON Career Center in Cadiz has announced the implementation of a four-day work week to reduce overhead costs.
The change in the normal work schedules were implemented beginning on June 7 and will run through Aug. 20.
The office will be open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A SPAGHETTI dinner benefit will be held June 6 from 12-6 p.m. at the Flushing Fire Hall for Julie ryan, granddaughter of Roger and Sam Shepherd. Julie was critically injured in a hit and run accident when In Rome, Italy in March and remains in a coma.
Adult dinners are being offered at $8 per person while children six and under may eat for $4 each.

An Ohio State corn hole board is also being raffled at $5 per chance.

THE OURANT One-room School House will host its annual cake walk on Saturday, June 12 with a variety of activities kicking-off at 6 p.m. including strawberries and ice cream and food service. The cake walk will commence at 7 p.m. Live music will be provided by Sands of Time. Everyone is encouraged to bring a cake and participate in the event. The school is located on Ourant Road, just off of Deersville Ridge Road, west of Cadiz.
