Shadyside Garage Fire Contained

December 15, 2010
By SETH STASKEY, T-L Sports Editor

SHADYSIDE -- A garage at 50 E. 34th Street here caught fire late Wednesday evening. Crews from Shadyside and Neffs helped battle the blaze at the property, which is owned by Ralph and Lisa Heller of Shadyside.

According to Shadyside Fire Chief Dave Lenz, the fire started in the back right corner of the upstairs of the structure, which was being remodeled to serve as an apartment, and spread quickly. His crews had early troubles of getting water to the structure due to the lack of hydrants in the north end of Shadyside.

No one was injured. The Heller's home, which is located just a few steps in front of the garage, suffered minimal damage. See Thursday's Times Leader for additional coverage.
