December 19, 2010
Times Leader

St. Clairsville - Belmont Correctional Institution (BeCI) Warden Michele Miller is pleased to announce that Larry Bragg, Social Work Supervisor at the facility, has received the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Recovery Services Employee of the Year award for 2010. Bragg began his career with BeCI in October 1995 and has been recognized at the local and statewide level for his work and dedication to the DRC Hostage Negotiations Team. Bragg was also instrumental in the success of the Therapeutic Community at BeCI which encompassed a residential living unit that addressed alcohol and/or drug dependence and related behavior.

Bragg recently spearheaded the Intensive Prison Program (IPP) which focuses on treatment for drug and alcohol abuse. This program is characterized by concentrated and rigorous specialized services that offer inmates a genuine "Second Chance to Change". The program is based on correctional programs that have been shown to be effective in reducing the likelihood of recidivism. Larry also coordinates Holiday Food Drives for local communities in the Ohio Valley.

Warden Miller commented that "Larry is one of my 'go to' employees that I can count on to get the job done. He is highly respected by his peers and has a vast knowledge of correctional expertise. He is a pleasure to work with and believes in affording our offenders the opportunity to reenter society with the tools they need to be successful law abiding citizens."
