A ST. CLAIRSVILLE man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 9 near mile post 18 north of St. Clairsville Tuesday afternoon.
Christopher Hill, of Newell Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Belmont County coroner, according to information from the St. Clairsville Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
A State Patrol spokesperson said the post received a call of a serious injury crash on Ohio 9 at 4:44 p.m. Troopers, medical personnel from the Cumberland Trail Fire Department, Belmont County Coroner's office and the Ohio Department of Transportation, responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford F-150, driven by Hill, was northbound on Ohio 9. An Ohio Department of Transportation vehicle, a Chevrolet 3500, driven by Ray Ramsey, 61, of Plainfield Road, Belmont, was southbound.
The State Patrol noted that Hill's vehicle went left of center and struck Ramsey's vehicle, forcing it off the right side of the roadway.
Ramsey was taken to the Ohio Valley Medical Center by the Cumberland Trail Emergency Squad with serious injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Ohio 9 was closed for approximately four hours due to the crash.
The accident is still under investigation.
