STEUBENVILLE -A colorful memory quilt designed and stitched by friends and family of area residents who experienced end-of-life care from Valley Hospice will be dedicated Wednesday, March 23 at Valley Hospice's Care Center North at Trinity Medical Center East beginning with a reception at 5 p.m.
The individually designed squares commemorate the lives of those who were patients of Valley Hospice, explains Debbie Barto, director of volunteer services. Friends and family members fashioned the memorial squares while hospice volunteer Donna Horstman of Wheeling assembled the quilt.
"Over the years we have had quilt squares made from a patient's favorite work shirt, golf shirts, bowling shirts and vacation destination tee-shirts," Barto said, adding, "This newest quilt includes such themes as a firefighter, truck-lovers, favorite scripture passage, a local quilt club pattern, Irish chain, a Lonestar quilt and orchid flowers."
