Varner opens auto repair shop

April 3, 2011
By ROBERT A. DEFRANK - Times Leader Staff Writer , Times Leader

CADIZ A new full-service station is open in town and owners say the watchword is quality.

Chuck Varner and his twin sons, Bryan and Brandon, are originally from Weirton where they operated a mechanic shop and station. Several years ago they had to close the business due to economic problems but recently heard of an opening in Cadiz's Marathon station at the corner of East Market and North Buffalo streets.

The business opened Feb. 12. Chuck said the people have been very welcoming and enthusiastic. The Varners are in the process of moving to Cadiz.

"Customer care is quality," said Chuck, adding that mechanical repair has been in his family for generations. His grandfather started Varner's Radiator Shop in 1947 and they had worked in the field of automotive repair for 30 years.

They provide a complete range of services including putting air in the tires, checking pressure, oil and fluid levels.

They have also opened a mechanic shop equipped to handle automotive repairs, details and car washing as well as work on other mechanisms such as welders for tractors. They will shortly be equipped to perform complete repairs on radiators and air conditioners as well. They also aim at one-day repairs and offer pickup and delivery services for local customers.

Chuck added that the shop offers free estimates and boasts the cheapest prices in the area.

So far the family-owned business employs one local man. They plan to hire more workers as they expand and extend hours. Currently, they are open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Their number is (740) 942-1407.
