Buckeye Local boys and girls prevail

AT CONNORVILLE, Buckeye Local committed nary an error and got timely hitting en route to a 5-1 victory over invading Brooke Monday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers, who are now 3-3 on the season, received solid pitching from Jenna Clark, who started and got the victory before giving way to a pair of relievers.

Tori Nest led the plate attack for Buckeye with a double, single and two RBI. Amy Balk added two singles and a RBI. Karli Leonard donated a pair of singles and a RBI. Dana Bettineschi socked three singles and Jessi Faulkner drove in a run with a single.

Brooke, meanwhile, was led by Shannon Reardon, who had a single and a RBI.

The Lady Panthers are slated to meet St. Clairsville today.

FERRY 11,

HARRISON 4

AT Cadiz, invading Martins Ferry rolled past Harrison. Winning pitcher Cirstie Delguzzo struck out a pair and walked four.

Kylie Stalder and Addie Suriano collected two hits apiece for the Purple, combining for three RBIs. Shauna Bandy belted a double and knocked in two. Stephanie Perdok delivered a single and RBI.

Jess Custer and Madison Richards rapped a single and double for the Huskies. Summer Gladman socked two singles.

EDISON 8,

UNION LOCAL 0

At Jefferson State Park, Edison's Zoe Westfall blanked UL on four hits, She recorded nine striekouts and two walks.

Kiley Smith slugged a home run and single for Edison. Casey Della Penna and Kristen Prokapakis socked two singles apiece.

UL's Ashten Butler belted a pair of singles.

BASEBALL

BUCKEYE 11, MARTINS FERRY 6

AT CONNORVILLE, Buckeye Local won its third straight game and improved to 5-3, upending rival Martins Ferry, 11-6 on Bill Mazeroski Field.

The Panthers got another sound mound effort from Landon Brown, who worked five innings with three strikeouts and two walks.

Brandon Borkoski led the Panthers' 10-hit attack with two doubles and four RBI. Kody Cesario added two singles and two RBI. Austin Marshall plated a run with a double, while both Chayse Staten and Chase Hopkins each had a run-scoring single. Brian Zeroski donated two base hits.

Ferry was led by senior Dorsey Moore, who had a double, home run and three RBI. Jordan Murry added a two-run home run.

The Panthers are slated to host Steubenville this evening before taking on Martins Ferry again on Wednesday.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE 19 HARRISON CENTRAL 4

AT Cadiz, visiting St. Clairsville scored in every at-bat enroute to rolling past the Huskies.

Sam Vincenzo earned the mound decision, recording four strikeouts and four walks. A trio of HC hurlers teamed for three Ks and six walks.

T.J. Sliva collected three hits and three runs batted in for the 3-2 Red Devils. D.J. Busby, Zack Kinnick and Jared Clovis contributed two hits apiece. Busby knocked in a pair.

Nick Pelegreen singled and doubled for Harrison. Nik Edwards donated a single and run bated in.

SHADYSIDE 17, RIVER 0

AT Hannibal, invading Shadyside scored in all five innings en route to a convincing 17-0 victory over the Pilots Monday afternoon.

Josh Kernik was strong on the hill for the Tigers, fanning six in the complete-game effort. At the dish, he missed the cycle by a triple. He drove in four runs.

Matt Duda, Logan Hudson and Evan Marling all had multi-hit games for the Tigers.

River was led by Tucker Brown's two hits.
