Concerts at Epworth Park are family-friendly events. The concession stand at the park entrance will offer food and drinks during the concerts. Concert admission and parking are free, although donations are appreciated. Concerts go on rain or shine.

A band with local roots, The Shumans return to Epworth Park, where they were warmly received last summer. The Shuman brothers, Sam and Dan ("Schultz") are sons of former Barnesville resident Marlene and the late Sam Shuman, Senior. The band is rounded out by Sam's eldest son Jesse.

Barnesville natives Sam and Schultz inherited their father's love of music as well as his musical skill and began playing instruments as youngsters all around Belmont County. The brothers, now based in other cities, continue to perform at various venues, including fairs and festivals throughout the state of Ohio, as their schedules permit.

With a repertoire of several hundred songs, The Shumans appeal to a broad spectrum of musical interests. Performing original compositions in addition to country, folk, rock, and blues standards, the talented family entertained a big crowd at Epworth last year and will certainly draw big numbers again on Saturday.

While they often perform together, each of the three Shumans has performed on his own with a diversity of bands. Over the course of their musical careers, Sam Junior, Schultz, and Jesse have been members of very successful bands including Kiddog, Dasf Riprock, Dealer's Choice, and Zen Cowboys. In summer 2009, Jesse's band State of Emergency opened for the band Disciple. In 1988 Sam and Schultz formed The Ammunition; they began performing regionally, opening for such acts as Charlie Daniels, Waylon Jennings, Highway 101, Restless Heart, and Tanya Tucker. Performing as The Ammunition, Sam and Dan twice won the True Value Country Showdown at local and state levels, ultimately placing second at regional finals.

In addition to appearing at the Ohio State Fair, The Shumans have played at Kent State, Ohio University, OSU and at Belmont, Monroe, Marshall, Guernsey, and Harrison County Fairs. The group's recordings include albums Without Choice, Loaded, Fly Like the Wind, and Long Black Train. Sam Junior released his own album entitled Bridges in 2000; his brother Schultz also performed on the album.

In her sixth appearance in Bethesda, country music singer Hayley Watson will perform from 7-9 p.m. at Epworth Park on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Hayley performs for a packed audience during the village's Chautauqua celebration each year, as well as at other times in our summer concert schedule.

Hayley always enchants the audience with her beautiful voice, excellent vocal control and bubbly personality. Her program is non-stop motion, high-energy, and full of spunk and fun. She kicks and dances her way into everyone's hearts and has the crowd on its feet dancing, too. Spectators are invited to sing along on several numbers, as well. Saturday's concert is highly anticipated and will, no doubt, be well-attended. Get your seats early!

A busy mother from Zanesville, Hayley makes time for a full slate of public performances at festivals and other venues in the tri-state. With more than fourteen years in public performances under her belt, Hayley began her music career by entering and winning a hometown talent search, the prize for which was a 10-song album produced in Nashville, TN and a recording with Joe Diffie's band. Hayley has recorded a total of six albums.

Six-time opener for Neal McCoy, Hayley has also opened for Ricky Skaggs, Aaron Tippin, Tracy Byrd, and Confederate Railroad. In May 2008 she sang at the Dodge Challenger 500 in Darlington, SC and at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in Martinsville, VA. In 2005 Watson auditioned for American Idol and also made it into Nashville Star's second round.

Concerts at Epworth Park are family-friendly events. Please join Hayley Watson and her family-and the Cottage Owners of Epworth Park-for a fun-filled evening of excellent music. The concession stand at the park entrance will be opens at 6 p.m. and will remain open during the concert. Concert admission and parking are free, although donations are appreciated. Concerts go on rain or shine.

Summer concerts are presented by the Epworth Park Cottage Owners' Association in cooperation with the Belmont County Tourism Council. For questions call Larry Anderson at 740-484-1130.
