Bluegrass events slated for August

Mickey's Family Campground in Hopedale presents Bluegrass in the Hills August 4-6.

Thursday's entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature The Putnam Family, Awesome Possum and IIIrd Generation. Friday shows begin at noon and include Southbound Express, Megan Murphy& Yankee Bluegrass, The James King Band, Heather Berry & Tony Mabe, Kody Norris & Watauga Mountain Boys and IIIrd Generation. Saturday also begins at noon and includes Southbound Express, Brand New Strings, Sheppard Brothers, Big Country Bluegrass, Donna Ulisse & Poor Mountain Boys, Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice and Ralph Stanley II.

Arrive anytime on Wednesday and stay through Sunday. Thursday night enjoy free bean soup and cornbread with bands and open stage. Home cooked food featuring seven flavors of pie baked fresh on site will be available. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. The will be no smoking on the pavilion and no alcoholic beverages allowed in the stage area.

A Bluegrass Jam is set to be held August 4 - 6 at River's Edge Activity Center, located on Ohio State Route 7, 4 1/2 miles south of Sardis. Open stage Thursday 6 - 11 p.m. Music begins Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. till 11 p.m. Camping, food, 50/50 drawing. All bluegrass, old-time country bands and public welcome.
