Helping Others

HELPING OTHERS in need should be a premise by which we all live by.

In Martins Ferry, such a scenario is playing out quite impressively.

The Daily Bread Center will open its doors Saturday in the heart of the Purple City. The center has been a longtime dream of the Martins Ferry Ministerial Association.

Now that the dream is becoming reality, it will mean a better life for countless individuals down on their luck.

The center will provide well-rounded and nutritious meals while also providing other services to those who frequent the new facility.

The city's ministerial association deserves much credit for its passionate efforts. The group recently purchased the former chamber of commerce building to house the Daily Bread Center.

Moreover, members from several churches throughout the city have donated their time and abilities to get the center up and running for Saturday's opening while also training volunteers to man the center.

The Daily Bread Center is being developed to do more than just dispense food. It will also be utilized to network and resource additional assistance programs. In addition, center officials hope to implement informational sessions down the road on menu planning, nutrition and cooking on a low budget.

Center founders have invested much time, thought and money into making a dream come true. The Daily Bread Center will serve as a beacon of help and hope for those in dire need of both.

We commend the Martins Ferry Ministerial Association and everyone in the community who made such a worthwhile undertaking come to fruition. We also encourage continued support for the center.
