Innocent plea entered in rape case

ST CLAIRSVILLE - Conference, pre-trial and trial dates were set Thursday during arraignments before Belmont County Common Pleas Judge John M. Solovan II.

Stacey A. Moore, 38, 49882 Pursglove Road, Maynard, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape, a felony of the first degree, with the specification that the victim was younger than 10. The crime allegedly occurred July 8. Moore faces up to life imprisonment for each charge, a $20,000 fine and a sexual predator label. He will appear before Judge Jennifer Sargus for pre-trial Sept. 19 with a plea agreement deadline Nov. 28. Trial is set for Dec. 13. A $1 million bond and personal recognizance was set at his initial arraignment.

Stephen Lynn Nelson, 38, 3844 Trumbull St., Bellaire, entered a plea of not guilty to a count of sexual battery, a felony of the second degree, occurring January of 2010. A status conference was set for Sept. 2 with a plea agreement Sept. 30 before trial Oct. 6. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Cavan Lee Hartline, 19, 26 South First St., Martins Ferry, pleaded not guilty on a count of receiving stolen property, which occurred June 1. He will appear before Sargus for pre-trial Sept. 19. Plea agreement deadline is Oct. 31. Trial is set for Nov. 9.

Erika Diane Duncan, 26, 2152 Guernsey St., Bellaire, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. She will appear before Sargus for pre-trial is set for Sept. 19. Plea agreement deadline is Jan. 3. Trial is set for Jan. 12.

Jeffery Joseph Hall, 26, 430 Richland Ave., Wheeling, pleaded not guilty to escape, a felony of the second degree occurring June 2. The possible 12-month sentence could run consecutive to his current charges. Hall has charges of burglary and conspiracy to burglary pending in West Virginia. Pre-trial is set for Aug. 18 with a plea agreement Aug. 22. Trial is set for Aug. 30. Bond was set at $10,000.

Pete Michael Harlan, 20, residing at the Belmont Justice Center, entered a plea of not guilty to burglary, a felony of the second degree. He will come before Sargus on pre-trial Aug. 18. Plea agreement deadline is Aug. 22 and trial is set for Sept. 1. His bond stands at $10,000.

Timothy Charles Shippy, 47, who resides between Uniontown and Lafferty, pleaded not guilty to a count of driving under the influence, a felony of the fourth degree with the specification that this was his fifth charge in 20 years, with his last charge three months ago. He will come before Solovan on a status conference Sept. 2 with a plea agreement Sept. 30. Trial date is Oct. 11. He was released on a bond of $5,000 with a curfew between midnight and 6 a.m.

Vincent Patrick McPherson, 28, 445 North Wabash St., Wheeling, entered a plea of not guilty on a count of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree occurring July 6. He will appear before Solovan for a status conference Sept. 2 with a plea agreement deadline Sept. 16. Trial is set for Sept. 22. Bond was continued at $5,000.

Shawn Eugene Lipsey, 19, 1565 Sullivant Ave., Columbus, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs occurring May 28, a felony of the fourth degree with the specification that it allegedly occurred within the vicinity of a school. He will appear before Sargus for a pre-trial Sept.. 19 and a plea agreement deadline Nov. 28. Trial is set for Dec. 15.

Michael Allan Coe, residing at the Belmont Justice Center, pleaded not guilty to theft, a felony of the fourth degree, possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, and aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree. He is facing a maximum sentence of 12 years and a $20,000 fine. He will come before Solovan on a status conference regarding the theft and possession charges Aug. 19 with a plea agreement deadline Sept. 2. Trial is set for Sept. 13. Coe will come before Solovan on the robbery charge for a status conference Aug. 19. Plea agreement deadline is Sept. 30. Trial is set for Oct. 4. Bond was set at $20,000.

Daniel Paul Wheeler, 21, 68200 Barton Blaine Road, St. Clairsville, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs, a felony of the fifth degree occurring May 24. He will appear before Solovan for a status conference Sept. 2. Plea agreement deadline is set for Sept. 30 and trial is set for Oct. 4.

Warrants were issued for:

Bernadette Angela Demetrovich, 59, 111 Broadview Drive, Cadiz, accused of a theft on January 2004. She has 30 days to present herself to Sargus.

Khoury Hanan, accused of passing bad checks. He has 30 days to present himself to Sargus for pre trial Sept. 19.

Thomas A. Glenn, 57, accused of an assault occurring May 29. He may be currently incarcerated elsewhere.

Roderick Lee Jones, 19, 119 Third St., Bridgeport, accused of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, occurring July 11.
