The Alumni Committee would like to announce that their next reunion will be held on June 23, 2012 at the Wheeling Island Casino. Plans are underway and alumni will be notified of further details. They are also working to create an alumni room at the city building to house high school memorabilia recently removed from the now closed South Elementary.
It is the alumni group's goal to create an atmosphere in which fellow graduates can visit and reminisce about their years as Yorkville High School Ductilites. The committee would like to thank the village mayor and council for allowing the use of the room in the city building. Anyone wishing to contribute to this project is asked to contact Tom Magnone at 859-2762. Any donation to assist in the room preparation would be greatly appreciated.
Village officials recently announced the purchase of the former Citizens Bank building on Grandview Avenue. In the near future, all village offices will be moved to that location. All furniture, computers, copy machines and the security system were included in the purchase. The purchase also included a lot south of the building.
Additional office space will be available for rent to interested professionals, furnished or unfurnished. There will be no charge for water, electricity, gas or the security system.
Anyone interested in renting office space is asked to contact Mayor Jerry Vinci at 859-6307.
Future plans for the building include a community center for use by civic or church groups.
