September 11, 2011
By ROBERT A. DEFRANK - Staff Writer , Times Leader

ST CLAIRSVILLE - Melissa's Gifts Galore opened its doors last week offering handy gift items at a reasonable price. It is owned by Melissa Freeman, who converted the business from a consignment shop after four years. Research on Facebook gave her the idea of setting up a gift shop.

"I thought, what other kinds of business I could do," she said, adding that she had a background of more than 20 years in Avon sales and the shop was already supplied with other brands such as Tupperware, Longaberger. "I'm always selling something."

"I want to give people a variety of items they can't really find at the mall," she said.

Services include gift bagging or baskets. Gifts Galore will also host home parties.

"All you have to do is invite people. We do all the work," she said, noting the cozy atmosphere. "We just want people to feel relaxed to come in and share."

They offer Tupperware, Longaberger, Avon, Advocare and Rada Knives. Tastefully Simple and Scentsy can also be ordered.

"Some items will be available for cash and carry, and you will be able to order from all or any of them," Freeman said, adding that the store also carries candles, jewelry, purses and many unique items.

In the future, they may offer Watkins brands as well as a line of celular phone covers.

The shop is located 50580 National Road East. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The number is (740) 296-5321.
