Relay for Life meeting set?Wednesday

YTR & More

November 5, 2011
KAREN VARGO , Times Leader

The next regularly meeting of the Relay for Life Team Captains / Committees will be Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Administration Office in Dillonvale. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Please visit www.relayforlife.org/buckeye for more information about this annual Relay for Life event. Please note that the 2012 Relay will be held on June 1st and 2nd at Buckeye Local High School rather than War Memorial Stadium. The regional Relay for Life leadership recommends holding the event at a site that allows for a back up plan in case of inclement weather.

Dining in YTR

While the YTR area does not sport any big name restaurants like Olive Garden or Applebee's, there are still plenty of ways to meet your nutritional needs and tempt your taste buds. The Fairway 4 in Tiltonsville and Bill's Restaurant in Yorkville offer an array of food and beverages as well as a friendly hometown atmosphere, as does Mrs. T's Restaurant & Pub in Yorkville. Rayland is home to the Dairy Queen and the Connorville Drive Thru/Carry-out, which features many homemade items and Yorkville Bakery bread. Midei's Food and Fuel in Tiltonsville, Grand Slam Pizza and Pizza Express in Yorkville can satisfy your urge for pizza, subs or breadsticks. The Foodland and the Handy Market can fill your need for deli foods, fried chicken, salads and relish trays. And let's not forget our two awesome Fish Frys held each Friday at the Rayland Fire Hall and St. Lucy's in Yorkville. Stop in any of these fine establishments and enjoy good food and friendship.

Theater Production

The Buckeye Local High School Theater group, under the direction of Mrs. Teresa Cybulski, will be performing You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the high school on November 11th and 12th at 7:00. Cost of ticket is $8. If you have not been to one of Mrs. C's productions, you are urged to do so, as they are always spectacular. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip "Peanuts."

Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service

The TRY Community Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held on November 20 at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiltonsville. The following churches are participating: Tiltonsville, Rayland and Yorkville United Methodist Churches, Rush Run Community Chapel, St. Lucy and St. Joseph Catholic Churches, Meadowbrook Church of God and the Tiltonsville Tabernacle. Everyone is invited to attend this service.

Thank You

Kathy Calhoun and Joe Horvath would like to thank everyone who participated in their fundraisers, through their attendance, their donations, their love and support. Kathy's event was held on Sept. 24 and Joe's on Oct. 23. The Yorkville Volunteer Fire Dept also wishes to express their appreciation for the community support for Joe, who is a member of the Yorkville FD. Each event was a huge success.

Memorial Meeting

A planning meeting regarding the upcoming Memorial Tree Lighting Service will be held in the near future. Anyone wishing to help with this awesome project is asked to contact Dana or Lana Brown at 859-6486 by Friday, November 11. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.

Honoring All

Who Serve

Veteran's Day is on 11-11-11. Make time to thank someone who gave their service to our great country and remember those who gave their lives to keep us free. When you see someone in uniform, whether someone you know or a stranger, look them in the eye and say "thanks". With one look and one word, they will know what you mean. If you know a veteran of any war, do the same. One word, one look makes all the difference. We must never forget!

The Rush Run Community Chapel will honor all veterans of the Ohio Valley at their 11 a.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 13. A luncheon will be provided for all veterans and their families after the service.

Any veteran in the valley is cordially invited to attend. Please contact Pastor Jim Monogioudis at 859-3038 or Donna Jokovich at 859-6454 for additional information.
